【报告摘要】:
The mission of our research is developing new nanomaterials with functionality gained from low dimensionality, structural and compositional complexity, and novel optical, chemical, and electrical properties of nanostructures and for great societal impact. In this talk, I will present an overview on our efforts related to two application areas, including (1) interfacing with biological system to address critical challenges in nanomedicine with a focus on our recent progresses made on developing new nanomaterials for neuronal regeneration and stimulation and (2) designing new nanomaterials with unique photonics properties for solar energy applications and photonic devices.
【报告人简介】:
Professor Chen Yang graduated from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, Anhui, P. R. China, with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Physics in 1999. She obtained a Master of Philosophy in 2000 by studying theoretical chemistry with Professor Yijin Yan at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Prof. Yang received her doctoral degree in Chemistry under the supervision of Professor Charles M. Lieber at Harvard in 2006. Then she worked as an associate in McKinsey & Co, a world top business consulting company, from 2006 to 2007. Professor Yang joined Department of Chemistry and Department of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University in August, 2007 and she was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013. Professor Yang moved to Boston University and took a position of Associate Professor in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Department of Chemistry in 2017.
Prof. Yang’s research interest is focusing on nanomaterials for their potential applications in nanoscale devices, biological and energy applications. Her research has been published in high profile journals, including Science, Nature, Nature Photonics, Physics Review Letter and Nano Letters, and been featured by many public press releases, including Chemical and Engineering News, Harvard Gazette magazine. She has won the NSF Career Award (2009-2014), Purdue Seed of Success Award and Purdue Outstanding Adviser Award. She served as a guest editor for Journal of Electronic Materials and currently serve on Editorial Board of Scientific Reports.
